Forest School has had a creative start to 2016.
Year 1 have made junk model animals they thought lived in Southam Primary's School grounds. We had everything from a ladybird to a Pied Wagtail!
Year 2 pounded herb leaves on to material to make an imprint design with grown up hammers! We discussed how the material changed and the shape of the leaves. We also talked about the scent of the different herbs.
We also became mini mathematicians and scientists.
Year 1 looked at time by making clocks from materials and year 2 pretended that a bowl of warm water was a dormouse and made a suitable home for it to sleep away the cold weather. The best home for it was a cosy house made out of bark and sticks. We tested the dormouse's temperature before the experiment and after.
Year 2 have also made small gardens with real cress lawns and seed spacers that can be used for future gardening projects.
All our lessons have linked with the school curriculum. The Forest School team were impressed b all the children's enthusiasm and attitude towards learning.
