Reception 2024 Information Page
Welcome to Southam Primary School!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your child, to Southam Primary School. I am delighted that your child has been offered a place at our school. We look forward to meeting you and your child to begin to build a partnership to ensure that your child’s school life is both happy and successful.
During this term, I will be inviting you to an information meeting in school, where you will meet your child’s teacher and find out more about the Reception Class routines. A date for this meeting will be shared with you over the next week.
As part of the transition programme, moving from nursery/ preschool to school, our reception teachers will be visiting your child in their Pre-school or Nursery during this term. Please could you confirm which Preschool/ Nursery they currently attend so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.
To get to know the children even better, we are very keen to offer you a home visit during the first week in September, where children can show their new teacher their toys and special things in a familiar environment where they feel confident and happy. These visits provide a great basis for building an effective relationship between your child and school staff. We will tell you more about the visits later on this term at the information meeting.
We are also planning on holding some stay and play sessions for the children next half term, when they ca come in to school and spend time in their new class with their class teacher.
