Introducing our Governors .....
Clare Chevassut, Co-opted Governor - Chair of Governors (Term of Office 2016- 2020)
I became a parent governor in October 2009. I have had 3 children at the school, and enjoy spending time with classes either walking to swimming and to the library, reading and helping out with art, cooking and other occasional projects. Having worked for local authorities in London, Yorkshire and Warwickshire for over 15 years before having my children I am now enjoying being a full time mum, and the time that gives me to be involved with the school. I currently Chair of Governors. I have particular interest in Safeguarding Children, English and the schools involvement in the community.
Janet Montague, Local Authority Governor - Vice Chair of Governors, SEN Governor (term of office 2016- 2020)
I have been living in Southam since 2002 and am married with two children at Southam College. I work full time at Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon and am also the administrator for the before and after school club. In my spare time I mainly stand out in the cold watching James’s football matches, or I love watching Andrew's plays as he is very creative. I have been a governor now for 5 years and find it really interesting – as vice chair I am learning a lot about the role and how we can all work together to make the most of the facilities at the school. I would welcome any feedback or comments that you may have. I can be contacted via the school office.
Alison Stewart - Parent Governor (Term of Office 2016- 2020)
I have 1 child at school Callum in year 6. I have been actively involved in the school since my first child, Ella started, including welly walks, walking to and from the library, reading with children, as well as last year, teaching French to year 5 pupils.
I want to try and give more back to the school, and that is why I decided to join the Governing body last year. I am keen to help ensure the continued success of the school and build upon its recent results. I run my own company 'Alison Stewart Marketing'.
If you have any ideas or feedback, then please feel free to contact me via the school office.
Alexandra Marley - Community Governor (Term of office 2016- 2020)
I have lived in the area for 17 years with my husband and two children. By profession I am a family solicitor, but 10 years ago I left the law to set up a business with my husband. In addition, I devote a lot of time to voluntary work, sitting on School Appeal Panels and Youth Offender Panels. I am well experienced in being a Governor as I have worked with another Warwickshire school for the past 22 years. This has given me a considerable understanding of personnel issues within the education profession and I hope to bring some of that experience to Southam Primary. I am fully aware of the commitment and responsibility required to be a Governor and am looking forward to spending time assisting with many different areas of the school. I am also a governor at Rugby High School.
Matthew Stratford - Community Governor (Term of office 2016- 2020)
I moved to the area in 2012 and I am married with one daughter. I work full time as a civil service economist, and have been working in the education sector since 2008. I am new to being a school governor, only starting the role in 2013. I hope that my experience of education, especially educational finance, will help the school. In my spare time I am a keen amateur photographer and I have recently completed an Open University degree in History.
Sue Abbott - Community Governor, Safeguarding/ Child Protection Governor (Term of office 2016-2020)

Prior to this I have had experience of working in both the public and private sectors. I am very aware of the responsibility my role has in ensuring we get the most out of the money available to give the children the best possible quality of education. My main hobbies are singing and music and I look forward to becoming involved with some of the activities in the school in the future.
