Introducing our Governors .....
Andrea Hugo - Co-opted Governor , Chair of Governors (Term of Office 2017-2021)
I have two children currently at Southam Primary School. We relocated to Southam in December 2016, prior to which I was a school governor at my children's previous primary school. I am a governor as I want to support the school, and ensure that the school is the best it can be, and I am passionate that it continues to build on its current successes. I enjoy helping out at the FOSPS events and supporting the extra curricular activities.
Janet Montague, Local Authority Governor - SEN Governor (term of office 2016- 2020)
I have been living in Southam since 2002 and am married with two children at Southam College. I work full time at Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford Upon Avon and am also the administrator for the before and after school club. In my spare time I mainly stand out in the cold watching James’s football matches, or I love watching Andrew's plays as he is very creative. I have been a governor now for 5 years and find it really interesting – as vice chair I am learning a lot about the role and how we can all work together to make the most of the facilities at the school. I would welcome any feedback or comments that you may have. I can be contacted via the school office.
Alexandra Marley - Co-Opted Governor (Term of office 2016- 2020)
I have lived in the area for 17 years with my husband and two children. By profession I am a family solicitor, but 10 years ago I left the law to set up a business with my husband. In addition, I devote a lot of time to voluntary work, sitting on School Appeal Panels and Youth Offender Panels. I am well experienced in being a Governor as I have worked with another Warwickshire school for the past 22 years. This has given me a considerable understanding of personnel issues within the education profession and I hope to bring some of that experience to Southam Primary. I am fully aware of the commitment and responsibility required to be a Governor and am looking forward to spending time assisting with many different areas of the school. I am also a governor at Rugby High School.
Sue Abbott - Co - Opted Governor, Safeguarding/ Child Protection Governor (Term of office 2016-2020)
I am very pleased to be a Community Governor at Southam Primary School. I am very new to being a Governor (2014) but I hope that I bring a lot of experience and enthusiasm to the role. As well as being a Director of two small local businesses I am also a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield School of Management. Prior to this I have had experience of working in both the public and private sectors. I am very aware of the responsibility my role has in ensuring we get the most out of the money available to give the children the best possible quality of education. My main hobbies are singing and music and I look forward to becoming involved with some of the activities in the school in the future.
Dan Hobson - Parent Governor (Term of Office 2016- 2020)
I joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in Summer 2014. I have 2 children at the school, Sam in year 6 and Ben in year 4. I wanted to join the governing body to help support the school in its efforts be become an even greater place for children to learn and develop.
I work for a major retailer in North Warwickshire and live in Priors Marston. I enjoy competitive running, football and helping to manage my children's ever-expanding list of hobbies and activities in my spare time.
Nicola Lester - Parent Governor (Term of Office 2017-2021)
I have two children at Southam Primary School in Year 3 and Year 1 and they are both having a fantastic experience at the school. I have become a governor as I would like to help support the school in ensuring that all children have the same experience as my children are having. I would also like to help and support the staff and wider school community become an even greater place for pupils to learn and grow. I have a degree in Modern Languages (French & Spanish) and have worked for the last 15 years in Educational publishing.
