Fire Safety Poster Competition

Firework Safety Poem and Poster Competition 2014

School children are invited to enter Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards and Fire & Rescue Service’s annual Firework Safety Competition.

This year there are two competitions: Pre-School/Nursery, Reception to Year 2: Design a Firework Safety Poster. Posters should be colourful and designed to deliver a simple yet eye-catching firework safety message. Appropriate safety messages might include:

  • Stay a safe distance away from fireworks
  • Sparklers stay hot after they go out
  • Keep pets indoors
  • Never give sparklers to the Under 5’s
  • Never put lit fireworks in your pocket
  • Don’t fool with fireworks
  • Stay back – Fireworks burn
  •

Year 3 to Year 6: Write a Firework Safety Poem or Rhyme and Decorate It. Poems/Rhymes should be at least four lines long and also deliver a firework safety message. Children may decorate their entry form if they choose to.

There will be ten winners chosen, one from each age group across the five districts and boroughs. Each winner will receive a prize of a £10 book token and a visit to a Warwickshire Fire Station! In addition to their prize, they will also have their poster/poem enlarged and reprinted in time to be used as part of next year’s campaign.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 12th November 2014. Children can enter as many times as they wish but must write their name, age, and school, on the back of their posters. All entries must be on A4 paper.
