What Is Children's University?
Southam Primary School is proud to be a member of the Children’s University. For 3 years we have been linked with The Children's University to provide various modules for pupils after school.
The Children’s University is aimed at children within Primary Schools providing them with a variety of out of school opportunities.
The aims of the Children’s University are to:
Provide creative, fun, extended learning opportunities
Promote life long learning
Build self esteem, motivation and confidence
Make learning more exciting
Involve Community Partners
Each module lasts for at least 8 hours and after the children have completed a module they receive a certificate and a medal depending upon the number of modules completed.
For three completed modules children are presented with a bronze medal
For six completed modules children are presented with a silver medal.
For nine modules completed children receive a gold medal.
Children who achieve a gold medal are invited to a graduation ceremony at Warwick University to collect their medal. This ceremony is held annually. Some of our Children were among the very first graduates of the scheme gaining their Bronze, Silver and Gold medals for 72 hours voluntary after school attendance at clubs.
Our thanks go to our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who give up their time to run many of these modules
